Ingredients

Easy Version:

  • 2 cups orange soda Fanta, Sunkist, or Crush
  • 1/4 cup vanilla creamer French vanilla preferred
  • Ice cubes
  • Fresh orange slices for garnish

Homemade Orange Cream Soda:

Orange Syrup:

  • 5-6 medium oranges for juice and zest
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp orange extract
  • 1/8 tsp citric acid optional, for tanginess

Cream Mixture:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup sweetened condensed milk

To Serve:

  • 1 1/2 cups club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Orange slices for garnish

Instructions

Easy Version:

  • Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  • Pour orange soda into the glass, filling it about 3/4 full.
  • Slowly pour the vanilla creamer over the back of a spoon to create a layered effect.
  • Garnish with a fresh orange slice.
  • Serve with a straw and a spoon for stirring.

Homemade Version:

  • Step 1: Make Orange Syrup
  • Zest 2-3 oranges carefully, avoiding the white pith.
  • Juice the oranges to obtain 1 cup of fresh juice.
  • In a pot, combine juice, zest, sugar, and water. Heat on medium, stirring until sugar dissolves.
  • Simmer for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  • Remove from heat, strain zest out, and stir in orange extract and citric acid.
  • Let cool completely.
  • Step 2: Make Cream Mixture
  • In a bowl, whisk together heavy cream, vanilla extract, and sweetened condensed milk.
  • Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes.
  • Step 3: Assemble Soda
  • Add 3 tbsp orange syrup to a glass.
  • Fill 2/3 of the glass with club soda and stir gently.
  • Add ice cubes.
  • Slowly pour 3 tbsp of the chilled cream mixture over the back of a spoon for a layered effect.
  • Garnish with an orange slice and serve immediately.

Notes

For a less sweet version, use sparkling water and fresh orange juice instead of soda.
Store homemade orange syrup in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
The cream mixture can be prepared up to 3 days in advance.
