Ingredients

  • 10-15 fresh lemon balm leaves or 1 tbsp dried
  • 8 oz hot water not boiling
  • Honey or agave optional
  • Lemon slice optional

Instructions

  • Rinse fresh lemon balm leaves or measure dried leaves.
  • Heat water until steaming but not boiling.
  • Crush the leaves to release the oils, then add them to a teapot or cup.
  • Pour hot water over the leaves, cover, and let it steep for 5-10 minutes.
  • Strain (optional), add honey or lemon slice if desired.
  • Drink slowly to enhance the calming effect.

Notes

This tea is best enjoyed fresh but can be made in larger batches and stored in the fridge for a day or two.
Lemon balm can also be used in fruit salads, smoothies, or frozen into ice cubes.
